Paragraph 4. Mandatory signs

• 22. Mandatory signs are used to indicate necessary directions, conditions and regimes of traffic.
• 23. Mandatory signs are the following:
• 4.1.1. Traffic straight ahead.
  
• 4.1.1. Traffic to the right.
  
• 4.1.1. Traffic to the left.
  
• 4.1.4. Traffic straight ahead or to the right.
  
• 4.1.5. Traffic straight ahead or to the left.
  
• 4.1.6. Traffic to the right or the left.
  
  Signs 4.1.1– 4.1.6 permit the traffic only in the directions indicated by arrows. Signs 4.1.3, 4.1.5, 4.1.6 also permit a U-turn from the outer left lane.

  It is allowed to use signs with changed configuration of arrows corresponding to the directions of traffic established at the specific intersection

• 4.2.1. Passing the obstruction on the right.
  
  Passing of traffic islands and different obstructions on the carriageway is allowed only on the side indicated by the arrow
• 4.2.2. Passing the obstruction on the left.
  
  Passing of traffic islands and different obstructions on the carriageway is allowed only on the side indicated by the arrow
• 4.2.3. Passing the obstruction on the right or on the left.
  
  Passing of traffic islands and different obstructions on the carriageway is allowed on any side
• 4.3. Roundabout.
  
  Passing of the central island on the intersection (square) with roundabout movement only in the direction indicated by arrows
• 4.4. Traffic of cars.
  
  Only traffic of cars and motorcycles is permitted
• 4.5.1. Cycle track.
  
  Traffic of only cycles is permitted, and in the absence of pavement or footpath — also the traffic of pedestrians. The sign may additionally include the silhouette of a pedestrian
• 4.5.2. End of cycle track.
  
  The end of the validity zone of sign 4.5.1. The sign may additionally include the silhouette of a pedestrian
• 4.6.1. Footpath.
  
  Only traffic of pedestrians only is permitted and in the absence of a cycle track — and the traffic of cycles, in this instance the cyclists must not obstruct the traffic of pedestrians. The sign may additionally include the silhouette of a cycle
• 4.6.2. End of footpath.
  
  The end of the validity zone of sign 4.6.1. The sign may additionally include the silhouette of a cycle
• 4.7. Minimum speed limit.
  
  It is permitted to travel only with the speed indicated on the sign or a higher speed, but not exceeding the one provided by clauses 88 and 89 of the Rules
• 4.8. End of the minimum speed limit zone.
  
• 4.9.1–4.9.3. Direction of traffic of vehicles with dangerous goods.
  
  Traffic of vehicles with marking signs “Dangerous goods” is permitted only in the direction indicated on the sign: 4.9.1 — to the left, 4.9.2 — straight ahead, 4.9.3 — to the right
• 4.10.1. Track for horseback riders.
  
  — only traffic of horseback riders is permitted
• 4.10.2. End of track for horseback riders.
  
• 24. The validity zone of signs 4.1.1–4.1.6 installed before the intersection includes all the intersection, unless signs 4.1.1–4.1.6 or 5.8.1, 5.8.2 installed on it give other prescriptions (instructions).

  The validity of signs 4.1.1–4.1.6 does not cover route vehicles moving along established routes;

  The validity zone of sign 4.1.1 installed after the intersection spreads till the next marked intersection. The validity zone of this sign may be reduced by using panel 7.2.1.

• 25. Signs 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 may be used in groups (not less than three signs) to mark the line of deviation from the trajectory of movement of vehicles from an obstruction for the road traffic.
• 26. Signs 4.4, 4.7 set up with panel 7.14 and placed over a lane apply only to this lane. In the absence of panel 7.14, these signs apply to all lanes of the carriageway of this direction. Signs 4.4, 4.7 the images of which are included in the background of signs 5.8.1, 5.8.2, 5.8.7, 5.8.8 apply to respective lanes.
• 27. Signs 4.9.1–4.9.3 apply to the nearest intersection.
